In the last installment of Professionalizing History, we talked about the world of public history – one that is oftentimes overshadowed by the looming world of academia. While academic history seems to be everyone’s “go-to” history job, we must not forget the museums, historical organizations, archiving industries, government positions, and library systems that make up
In the last installment of Professionalizing History, I discussed the war on American history – the nationalistic, patriotic, oftentimes conservative-based ideology that prefers to ignore the dark side of history. We talked about Howard Zinn, a name I’ll oftentimes refer to in later installments, and what he did to contribute to this so-called war against
The Broletariat Podcast is a completely unscripted and unedited (and possibly incoherent) podcast consisting of Joseph Kaminski, Elijah Hintz, and Omar Wajeeh. We are not communists; the logo is supposed to be clever and ironic – which it is! In reality, Joe and Elijah are progressive Democrats and Omar is more of a leftist centrist…hated by

We are not communists; the logo is situational irony. What’s situational irony? Beats us. Probably like a fire station burning down or something. Sounds like us. Disclaimer: this is not going to be

Scotland is a rather liberal community being governed by the Party of Cameron (and perhaps soon the UKIP xenophobic movement) that has created tensions between the Isle residents. The Scottish Independence Referendum in 2014 highlighted this – that Scotland hasn’t been so approving of the English provisions for quite some time now. One major thing kept Scotland within the United Kingdom: The European Union.
Romantic love is not an ancient relic or social construct from long ago. Most historical societies, as recognized through works of traditional recollection, didn’t experience love as modern western society experiences it today. The formation of families were never witnessed in a loving relationship turning to fruition with engagement and cohabitation. It was something based on the formality of marriage, often arranged. People were not allowed to choose who they were going to marry, with romantic adventures being nonexistent up until in the very least the early 1800s.
This article was written by Blog Liberally. You should follow him on Twitter @BlogLiberally. First let me be upfront, a lot of folks call me a “liberal”, and you know what? I’m cool with that. Because to me being a liberal means rooting for People over Corporations. And that I do, EVERY TIME! ALL! THE! TIME! And in that subset of people I root for reside the poor, the working poor and the middle class. I root for those guys over those in that rarefied air the one-per-centers breath and even the ten-per-centers sit comfortably in. So yea, I’m what most would define as a Liberal, I accept it, proudly.
I’m a fan of studying Nixon, and I’ve studied him and his administration for years now. I’ve read all of his books, from Six Crises to The Real War to Beyond Peace to Seize the Moment to his own personal memoirs. I’ve read most of war criminal Henry Kissinger’s books. I’ve watched and read the Frost/Nixon interviews. You name the speech, if there’s a video recording of it online I’ve seen it twice. From celebrating his 103rd birthday to having an in-depth analysis of his debate against John F. Kennedy in 1960, I’ve done it.
Let me say it loud and clear: Hillary Clinton is his election’s Woodrow Wilson at this moment. A candidate who personally is not as progressive as you would like to think, but would literally listen to a progressive movement in order to keep her party happy. But, if Bernie Sanders were to either run as an Independent (which he won’t), be written in by his #BernieOrBust fans, or let his voters refuse to vote for a Clinton campaign — the election would be swapped. Clinton would no longer be the victorious Wilson, she would be left in the dust with a low turn out rate or split vote as the 2016 equivalent to William Howard Taft.
