L-Mao: China’s Internet

Let’s look at China, the so-called “up and coming” economic powerhouse that is managing to produce more of the world’s equipment and goods than just about anywhere else. China joined the internet party in May of 1989, sporadically taking it down and randomly bringing it back until April 20th, 1994 when it permanently became a part of the Chinese lifestyle. As population rises, so does the internet’s level of usage. By 2008, China became the largest population on the internet itself.

The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China, despite popular belief, is a series of fortifications rather than a single “great wall.” Expanding from the eastern stretch of Dandong to Lap Lake in the west, this wonder has gone down in history as perhaps one of the most recognizable and indistinguishable figures of humanity’s achievement and existence.

The History of America: A New World

Anyone who has taken a United States History course knows that sometimes, well, most of the time, we eliminate and “forget” to write down the lows of American History. Not many high school text books discuss the fact that Franklin Delano Roosevelt had made a decision to not to bomb railways used to transport prisoners to Auschwitz during World War 2, a controversial topic you can read more about here. But, there are five themes in United States history that can be seen in any high school or college history course.

BREAKING NEWS: The Panama Papers

We’re living in journalistic history, people. A massive, anonymous leak of financial documents from a Panamanian law firm has revealed an extensive and global network of offshore and rather illegal “shell” companies. In an era of history in which progressivism is on the rise and revolution dawns the mindsets of many different countries, we’ve just uncovered a massive scheme which allows the wealthy to hide all assets from taxes and to create laundering monopolies of billions in cash.

Happy 103rd Birthday to Richard Nixon

Nixon is an interesting case, making him one of my personal favorite Presidents. While most people tend to despise Nixon, I look at him differently, and through my research I’ve yet to find sufficient enough reasoning for him to go down in history as despicable. Most people, if you go around asking, can only say one thing about Nixon’s presidency: Watergate. I’m sorry, but if you’re only historically aware of Nixon’s position in Watergate, then you really aren’t qualified to judge a five-year political reign.

Russia is Drifting Away From Western Countries

A recent poll has shown several shocking numbers since the Ukraine invasions and conflict. For the first time in six years, Russian President Vladimir Putin has figures of over eighty percent when it comes to national approval. Even more impressive when it comes to national numbers, it is the first time since 2010 that his approval rating is over seventy percent.
